Grab your friends and head to downtown Albany. The 1st Annual Downtown Albany Jazz Fest Contest will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

 

 

Competing Bands include:

• Out of the Box | performing at McGeary's Pub                

• Michelle Caminos Quintet | performing at R Bar

• Kelly Birtch | perfoming at Taste

• Arch Stanton Quartet | performing at 74 State

• Tim Olsen / Eric Walentowicz Duo | performing at Blue 82

• Folding Sky | performing at Franklin's Tower

• The Hot Pants | performing at Bayou Cafe

• Le Rubb | performing at Pearl Street Pub

• Joey Thomas Big Band | performing at Jillian's

• The Ryan Sgroi Quartet | performing at Figure 10

 

The FREE competition will be held in numerous downtown Albany establishments (see schedule listed above). The public is encouraged to come out and participate by voting for their favorite act. Participating voters must visit at least three venues in order for their ballot to be valid.

 

Voting ballots and submission boxes will be available at each venue location. A free trolley will be running in between venues from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

The people’s choice winner will take the stage as the opening act at the Riverfront Jazz Festival the following day. Put on by the Special Event division of the City of Albany, the Riverfront Jazz Festival is a free public event. Headlining this year's festival is Kevin Eubanks from the Tonight Show.

 

Riverfront Jazz Festival
