In honor of the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., celebrate Dr. King's legacy on Monday, January 15, at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center.

Featured guests include two-time Grammy and Tony Award Winner Jennifer Holliday and keynote speaker Wintley Phipps. There will also be musical performances by the Schenectady Community College Jazz Ensemble, Staging Youths Future Inc. cast of RENT, guest speakers, video moments, a volunteer fair, the Beloved March, and more. The 2018 Theme is "MLK50 Forward - Together We Win with Love for Humanity."

 

The program begins at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 15. The Volunteer Fair begins at 8:30 AM. Immediately following the NYSOGS 2018 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Observance, Mayor Sheehan will lead the annual City of Albany “Beloved Community March,” beginning at the Madison Avenue entrance to the Empire State Plaza Concourse. The march will begin at approximately 11:45 AM and conclude at the Dr. King Monument in Lincoln Park with a wreath laying ceremony.

 

NYSOGS will provide one CDTA shuttle bus to transport disabled and/or elderly people to the memorial and back.
