Job Description:
MAJORS: MARKETING, PUBLIC RELATIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, ENGLISH, GRAPHIC DESIGN

MAJORS: MARKETING, PUBLIC RELATIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, ENGLISH, GRAPHIC DESIGN

 

Students would be involved in the following types of projects during their tenure at the BID:

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS

§  Work with the Communications Director to maintain communications with merchants, businesses and the general public. Write press releases announcing BID activities and events and follow up with media for coverage. Assist with grand openings of new businesses.

 

DOWNTOWN DIGEST NEWSLETTER

§  Publication Dates:  First day of February, May, August and November.  Intern would be involved in interviewing business owners; researching, writing and editing stories; proofreading; photography; and overrun distribution.

 

WEB SITE MAINTENANCE

§  Assist with maintaining an accurate and up-to-date web site.  Tasks include copy writing, image selection and creation of a monthly web site communications plan.

 

RESTAURANT WEEK

§  Help carry out the BID’s twice yearly fixed price dining promotion. Includes ongoing correspondence with participating restaurants, coordination of menus and gift certificates, delivery of materials and input on advertising.

 

 

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS

§  Articulate, organized, timely, enthusiastic

§  Must be able to work in a team environment

§  Willingness to take initiative and work independently when necessary

§  Excellent communication and computer skills required

§  A minimum of 4 hour blocks of time per day and 3 days per week

§  Junior/Senior college student or graduate student

§  Ability to maneuver through the BID district to make personal contact with business owners

§  Ability to distribute promotional materials throughout the BID
