Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Beloved Community March

at the Madison Avenue entrance to the Empire State Plaza Concourse

In honor of the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., on Monday, January 21, 2019, immediately following the NYSOGS 2019 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Observance, Mayor Sheehan will lead the annual City of Albany “Beloved Community March” beginning at the Madison Avenue entrance to the Empire State Plaza Concourse. The march will begin at approximately 11:45 AM and conclude at the Dr. King Monument in Lincoln Park with a wreath laying ceremony.

“As we commemorate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I am reminded of the importance of leading by example and not giving up on his dream,” said Mayor Kathy Sheehan. “The Beloved Community March is a wonderful reminder of Dr. King’s wise words, ‘our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.’”

NYSOGS will provide one CDTA shuttle bus to transport disabled and/or elderly people to the memorial and back. Please contact NYSOGS at: MLK@ogs.ny.gov or 518.474.4759 for questions regarding the shuttle service.
