Tracks to the Past: Albany History Day at D&H Plaza

Perhaps the most recognizable building in Albany, the H. Carl McCall SUNY Building is still known by many as the D&H Building, as it was constructed as the headquarters for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad Company in 1914. At this special event, Rudy Garbely, author of Delaware & Hudson: The Final Years, 1968 to 1991, is celebrating the release of this new comprehensive book by bringing together retired managers and employees of the railroad.
Between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.:
- Speak to retired D&H employees
- Meet book author Rudy Garbely
- Purchase a copy of the new D&H book from The Garbely Publishing Company
- Visit with local model train clubs and railroad organizations
- View historic displays about the D&H
- Purchase BBQ food from the non-profit Dining Car Society
Between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.:
- Tour the exterior and first floor of the H. Carl McCall SUNY Building, with tours starting every 30 minutes
- Walking tours of the Historic Albany Foundation’s nearby Van Ostrande-Radliff House (built circa 1728)
- Historic walking tours from the plaza through downtown Albany, hosted by Discover Albany
