In Our Own Voices hosts the Halloween Unity House Ball and Pageant on October 28 at 9:00 PM at the Hilton Albany. Free and open to the public (18+ event).
The House Ball draws inspiration from 1980s Ballroom culture where African American and Latin American LGB TGNC youth participated in competitive dance, lip-syncing, and runway walks.
We invite all members of the community to join us for the Halloween Ball and compete for cash prizes! Categories will include Realness, Vogue, Bizarre, and more. Stay tuned as we announce the full list of categories and descriptions!
The winner of the Halloween Pageant will win a one year, *paid ambassadorship* with IOOV and serve as a leader and advocate for health and wellness in LGBTQIA+ BIPOC communities across the Capital Region. The Halloween Ball is open to all, but pageant participants must:
- Reside in Albany County
- Be 18+
- Be willing and able to make a one year commitment to IOOV
- Be willing and able to attend and/or develop events
- Be willing and able to serve as an ambassador who will discuss the importance of healthy sexuality, knowing your HIV/HCV Status, Body Positivity, etc.
