Refabrications highlights hand-crafted and repurposed fabric works, emphasizing the great labor and skill involved with their creation. Textiles— a historical material extending as far back as the beginnings of civilization– hold great value culturally, aesthetically, and economically. The current mass production and abundance of textiles differ greatly from their skillful origins, and our perception of this material continues to evolve. As the contexts of these materials change, the artists featured in Refabrications redefine how textiles are further perceived as fine art.
