Bombshell Hair & Beauty Studio Now Open at 488 Broadway
Posh, new salon offering unique services opens its doors Downtown
The City of Albany and the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District (BID) held the official grand opening of Bombshell Hair & Beauty Studio, located within the Arcade Building at 488 Broadway, on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Mayor Kathy M. Sheehan, salon owner, Kelly Brunina, and Georgette Steffens, executive director of the Downtown Albany BID, delivered remarks followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
“New business owners, such as Kelly Brunina, are embracing the vibrancy of Downtown Albany," said Mayor Sheehan. “We are excited to add yet another business as part of Downtown’s continual and positive transformation, and wish Bombshell Hair & Beauty Studio the best of luck."
Already a veteran salon owner, the new location within the Arcade Building at 488 Broadway is representative of Brunina’s personal interests. Attracted to the space in Downtown by its eclectic neighborhood, creative businesses and modern interior design, she also noticed a growing “Manhattan-type” clientele in the area, including many stylish, young professionals seeking the most up-to-date hair and cosmetology trends.
“I fell in love with the location and space for Bombshell pretty much as soon as I saw it, and I knew this is the place I’m supposed to be,” said Kelly Brunina, Bombshell’s owner. “Everything about it is new – new concept, new products, new services – everything!” she continued. “Even though we’ve only been open for about a month, we’re already seeing an increase in reservations and a need to be open on Mondays, which is somewhat out of the ordinary in the salon industry”.
“As Downtown continues to develop, it is unique, high-caliber retail destinations such as Bombshell that activate our streets, attracting people to live and work in the District,” said Georgette Steffens, executive director of the Downtown Albany BID. “With over 100 new residential units being added annually, upscale amenities like Bombshell are not only desired, but expected in a thriving, urban area.”
Presently, Bombshell employs four stylists, including a cut and color specialist, eyelash extension specialist, ombre and balyage specialist, and a certified professional makeup artist. A unique coloring line, called Aloxxi Andiamo Express Permanent Color, is available at the salon and gives clients the ability to receive an entire hair coloring service during their lunch break, since it takes only 10 minutes to process the dye, rather than the usual hour. Other major product lines carried at the salon include Glo Minerals and Davines hair color, which are organic and allergen-free. In fact, all the products Brunina selected for use at her salon are completely natural and eco-friendly, another factor that sets Bombshell apart. The studio offers services for men, women and children.
