The Irish American Heritage Museum, in partnership with the Downtown Albany BID and Albany Running Exchange Event Promotions, presents the second annual Irish Sweat-er 5K. This fun run for all ages takes place along the route of the 69th Annual Albany St. Patrick’s Day Parade, just before the parade steps off. The start and finish line for the race will be at State and James Streets.
Packet pickup:
- Friday, March 15 at Public House 42 (42 Eagle St, Albany NY 12207) from 4 - 7 PM. Enjoy $4 IPA and $6 Stoli drink specials with your race bib.
- Day-of-race, Saturday, March 16 at the start and finish line (State & James Streets) from 10 AM - 12 PM
- Last-minute registration will be available at both locations
All runners will receive a free gift with registration and an invitation to the post-race celebration at the Irish American Heritage Museum, located at 370 Broadway in Albany. Runners are encouraged to sign up as teams, with a special discounted rate available to registrants who refer three or more friends.
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Irish American Heritage Museum, a permanently chartered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and telling the story of the contributions of the Irish people and their culture in America. The Museum provides year-round access to exhibits and the Paul O’Dwyer Library, as well as lectures, presentations, film screenings, book signings, and other special programs.
The Irish Sweat-er 5K is sponsored by the Irish American Heritage Museum, the Downtown Albany BID, Coldwell Banker Prime Properties, Integro Insurance Brokers, Macaluso Wealth Management, Pine Street Capital Partners, and M&T Bank. This event is supported in part by the Amplify Albany Grant Program, a program a made possible by the City of Albany Capital Resource Corporation and Capitalize Albany Corporation.
Ground rules: no alcoholic beverages, glass containers, pets or animals of any kind (excluding ADA-defined service animals). Event organizers reserve the right to cancel the race due to weather conditions that cause the running surface to be hazardous to the runners’ safety. Event organizers are not responsible for lost bibs.
