The Albany Capital Center, Downtown's state-of-the-art convention center, officially opened on March 1 following over $78 million in investment and 24 months of work. The venue boasts 22,500 SF of exhibition space, 9,200 SF of meeting space, and 13,500 SF of prefunction space. 

The Albany Capital Center is now part of the Capital Complex, the largest and most unique event space in upstate New York. To date for 2017, the Albany Capital Center has booked 62 events that will span 101 days of activities. This year’s events will spur 3,750 hotel room nights, of which more than 3,200 are new business for Albany. An additional 28 events have already been booked through 2021. On top of the $26.5 million in annual visitor spending, approximately $1 million more in sales, use, fuel, auto rental, personal income, and occupancy taxes will be associated with new visitor spending. The ACC, with its increased capacities, is projected to attract a greater volume of new convention and meeting business to the Capital Region by tapping market segments previously unavailable to Albany.
