Albany Center Gallery receives Stand for the Arts Award

Albany Center Gallery, which has provided a platform for the work of contemporary artists for over 40 years, has received a $10,000 Stand for the Arts award. Given by Ovation and Charter Communications, the award is granted based on how well an organization empowers the community, builds strategic partnerships, drives engagement through volunteerism, and delivers creative programming. The check will be presented at 6:45 PM on Friday, December 6.

“I was very shocked and kind of in awe – and then still not knowing if it was real, because things like that don’t usually seem to happen,” Gallery executive director Tony Iadicicco told the Times Union.

This marks the third substantial grant the Gallery has recently received - one for more than $70,000 from the Downtown Revitalization Initative for public murals, and the other for $20,000 from the NYS Council on the Arts. With programs extending far beyond their walls, the Gallery has recently added more Capital Walls murals in Downtown, which now total 16. Their popularity has led to multiple tours, including one for youths, and a pop-up party this fall.
